H & R Block Tax Professionals will give a Tax Talk for those who have question on filing their tax returns. There will be Free 2nd Look for those who filed 1040 tax returns in the past and FREE TAX RETURN for 1040 EZ filers.

We want to extend our appreciation to all those who donated warm clothing for the homeless people. Our “KEEP ME WARM” drive is extended up to January 30, 2012. If you have warm clothes to donate drop it off during the meeting.

If you know anyone who may be interested please let us know.The 2011-2012 Topic: “What Could the America of Yesterday Teach the America of Tomorrow?”This contest is administered and funded by the “Lions Fourth District Student Speakers Foundation, Inc.”, a California IRC 501(c)(3) tax exempt Nonprofit Charitable Corporation. This year the Foun…dation will provide scholarships totaling $103,500.00. From this amount, each of the fifteen District winners will receive a $4,500.00 scholarship, each of the four Area winners will receive an additional $6,500.00 scholarship and the winner of the Multiple District Four Contest will receive an additional $10,000.00 scholarship. Each District winner will also have competed in contests at the Club, Zone, and Region level, winning awards or scholarships at each level. Total amount of scholarship award is $21,000.Last year’s winner for 2011 was Gabriel Gonzalvez. He represented our District 4- C6 and was sponsored by the West San Jose Campbell Lions Club. He is a member of the Class of 2011 at Archbishop  Mitty High School.Contest Dates:
Zone Level – March 1 at the Beverly Heritage Hotel

Region 2 Level- March 21, 2012 at 6PM at the Leonard Clover Hall located at 99 N Bascom Ave. San Jose CA

MELC has served our community for the past 9 years through activities such as Arbor Day and all year-round Tree Planting in Milpitas Parks,  School Emergency Preparedness Drill, Eyeglasses Program with MUSD,  Neighborhood Night Out,  Make A Difference Day, Diabetes Testing and Prevention Seminar, and many more.

MELC and SNA will discuss how both organizations can work together to serve Sunnyhills and Milpitas.
