Milpitas Executive Lions Club Peace Poster entry

on the District Level competition.
The poster was selected from among the entries of other Lions Club in our District 4-C6 for its originality, artistic merit and portrayal of the contest theme, “Children Know Peace.” The judging was held Saturday, November 12, 2011 at the 2nd District Cabinet Meeting at the Prunedale Grange Hall in Prunedale, CA. Sophie’s poster will advance to compete at the multiple district level, which is a statewide competition and international level of competition if she is to be declared the international grand prize winner.
This is the 24th year for the peace poster contest sponsored by Lions Clubs International to emphasize the importance of world peace to young people everywhere. About 375,000 posters were
expected to be entered in this year’s contest in the 206 countries and geographical areas in which there are Lions Clubs worldwide.

On February 2012, one international grand prize winner and 23
merit winners will be announced. The One international grand prize winner will receive a trip to a special award ceremony at the Lions Day with the United Nations. During the ceremony, the winning artist will receive an engraved plaque and a cash prize of US$5,000.

Each of the 23 merit award winners will receive a cash award of
US$500 and a certificate of achievement.

Our Club has had district, state and international winners in the past.
